Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is vastly becoming the number one focal points for advertisers and businesses especially in 2017. In 2016 everyone in the marketing world thought the same might happen with RankBrain.
While marketers are familiar with the term RankBrain, to the average business owner RankBrain is a new terminology.
RankBrain – Slow and Methodical Roll Outs
RankBrain is Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) program that helps Google’s Search Engines and Robots process information regarding search queries. RankBrain will take large amounts of content and website information and convert them into vectors which gives the AI the ability to take information such as words or phrases and make more of an educated and mathematical guess. RankBrain is capable of learning and recognizing patterns and adjusting results and page rankings accordingly.
What makes RankBrain an interest insight in 2017 is that the ranking shifts are happening more gradually day by day instead of their previous major roll outs. With this new machine learning aspect, we truly believe that this trend will continue.
Larry Kim, took an interesting position and guess on this recently with his WordStream article that stated “Whatever SEO rank-checking tools or weather reports you’re looking at aren’t set up to notice these small and gradual types of changes. Engagements are More Important than Ever
In the technological world we are living in Google is striving to produce the greatest quality / relevant information and businesses in real time. One of the biggest ways to determine this is a website or businesses’ engagement and reach. Do NOT take those words and twist them, we are not saying go out and buy hundreds of followers or likes to impress Google. We are saying that the best way to determine a business or content’s value is by it’s engagement thus Google will and has started to hone in on this. With more sophisticated deep analytics and data been done than ever on websites, Google is taking it’s information from Click-Through-Rate, Page Visits, Bounce Rate, Frequency, etc. to determine quality.
Social Engagement is also becoming a Key Indicator in the quality of businesses. From Shares, Retweets, Reviews, to Subscribers and even how long people watch your YouTube Videos are all going to have more bearing on your rank.

Be the first to talk about it, not the thousandth.
When writing a blog or news article make sure it gets to the point, you link back to any sources, you use good long-tail keywords in your article, add images that use correct alt tags, syndicate information using RSS Feeds, etc. (tip – Use FeedBurner to help push blogs and podcasts)
Share your articles on all Social Media platforms – (tip – some of the smaller social media networks have more dedicated people), also don’t be afraid to post it multiple times throughout the week or revisit in a month.
Always ask for reviews with Google, Facebook, and Yelp being your most important! (tip – incentize your reviews if need be, maybe a percentage off your product or services or even a gift card to a restaurant)
